Columbus Ledger-Enquirer Roof, who spent five seasons as head coach at Duke before moving to Minnesota last year, favors the 4-3 alignment that Chizik used during his days as a coordinator at Auburn . . . Powers didn't share what he was told by the NFL advisory committee, but he might have to settle for a late-round draft selection or even free agency . . . Roof was 6-45 during parts of five seasons as head coach at Duke. But Chizik said he was impressed with Minnesota's improvement under Roof in 2008 . . .
