Inside the Auburn Tigers "Auburn is number one right now . . . Thus far, the Tigers have gotten positive verbal confirmation from three linebackers -- Jonathan Evans, Eltoro Freeman, Harris Gaston -- all of whom should serve to shore up a position that they've experienced success . . . It's always tough to project how kids will adapt to the college atmosphere, but the undersized Moore should provide Auburn with a lot of versatility and the ability to play any of the offensive line positions . . . The following is a list of running back prospects for Auburn . . . The native of Fort Valley, Ga., verbally committed to Auburn coaches on Tuesday . . . He was a standout at Auburn's Senior Camp, running a 4.4 40-yard dash and displaying dazzling footwork and coverage skills . . . Until Tuesday, the class was missing one thing: A single defensive back . . . The 5-foot-10, 170-pound Taylor was offered at Auburn's camp two weeks ago and decided to accept it on Tuesday . . . All in all, fans shouldn't be too concerned with this year's seeming change in recruiting philosophy. Coach Tubs knows what he's doing . . . The Tigers have more commitments than any other SEC school at this point . . . There are a number of outstanding safeties and cornerbacks that the Tigers are recruiting as part of its Class of 2009 . . . Auburn has traditionally received more commits later on in the fall than in the summer. But this year has seen Tommy Tuberville and his staff offer more kids earlier in the process . . . "Auburn does a great job of getting kids on their campus, where they can eyeball them up close. That's one thing that staff has consistently done maybe better than any other school in the SEC . . . While Auburn assistant James Willis was already a frequent visitor to the Gulf Coast, Williamson coach Bobby Parrish said the involvement of offensive coordinator Tony Franklin upped the ante . . . Willis said the early recruiting frenzy adds even more urgency to the recruiting process . . . The Auburn spin is that all these early commitments are not - no way, no how - a reaction to Alabama's banner 2008 recruiting class. Don't believe it . . . "Coach [Tommy] Tuberville rode up on his golf cart and introduced himself and talked to me a little while . . . The 5-foot-10, 180-pound Stallworth, who plays quarterback for his high school team, is projected to play wide receiver at Auburn . . . "I talked to Coach Dunn and Coach Grant while I was there, and they told me they really liked the way I ran the ball . . . Gran and Tuberville said this year's fast pace is not by design . . . The bottom line is that over the past few seasons, the Tigers haven't exactly had a ton of playmakers on offense. Times are changing, it seems . . . Perkins calls Auburn a dream school . . . Moore is the second lineman to commit to the Tigers this week . . . Offensive guard Aaron Moore of Frisco, Texas, became Auburn's fifth commitment in three days . . . Harris chose the Tigers over scholarship offers from Arkansas, Florida, Georgia Tech, Maryland, North Carolina and N.C. State . . . The surge of commitments brings Auburn's current haul to 15. It's believed to be AU's highest mid-June total ever . . . A speedy 5-foot-10, 175-pound receiver, James evidently impressed new offensive coordinator Tony Franklin in this weekend's camps . . . The 14 commitments represent a big jump over last year's June total, when the Tigers had five . . . For all the time Tommy Tuberville has been at Auburn and before that at Ole Miss, he and his assistants have put great emphasis on what they see in summer camps . . .
